The hermit is the most important character in Leo Tolstoy's short story "Three question" . The hermit lived in a wood. He never quitted the wood. He was widely renowned for his wisdom. He was a Wise man . He was very practical and positive in his attitude. The Tsar came to him to know the answer of his three questions. The hermit gave the answer in rather practical way. The hermit possessed great innate wisdom.

The Tsar is the principal character of the leave Tolstoy's short story "Three question".Actually the Tsar is Russian ruler in older times. He wanted to do good for the fellow men one three questions raised in his mind. He wanted the answer of the questions so that he would never fail in anything that might undertake. He was sincere in his duty. Even he was modest in his attitude. He possessed a true generosity of spirit. He went to the hermit to know the answer of his three questions. He met with his enemy but he nursed him and forgave him. The author presented Tsar as a dignified figure.
